Why does my oven take forever to preheat?

A weakening element or a lazy gas igniter will both stretch preheat time, and so will heat loss through a flattened door gasket. We measure how fast the cavity climbs, then compare that to what the sensor reports, and the slow link shows itself.

Is a cracked bake element dangerous?
