Cooktop Repair — Book a Visit Today

A cooktop quits in the middle of dinner and the whole night stalls. Gas burners that click but won't light, an electric coil that stays cold, a glass surface flashing an error code, a control knob spinning loose — these are the calls we take across Norristown and the surrounding townships. Most trouble traces back to an igniter, a burner switch, a spark module, a cracked element, or a control board that lost its mind. A visit starts with us running the cooktop the way you do, then testing the parts behind it. We explain what we find in plain words before anything gets replaced. Rowhome galley kitchens, split-level counters, downdraft units — we work in tight spots daily. Call us and describe what it's doing.

Cooktop Repair — quick answers

Is a clicking gas burner dangerous?

Turn that burner off and stop using it until the clicking stops. Continuous sparking usually means a wet or dirty igniter. Gas may be flowing without lighting. If you smell gas, leave the house and call your gas utility first, then reach us.

Can a cracked glass cooktop still be used?

No. A crack lets spills reach live wiring underneath and can spread with heat. Shut the breaker off to the unit and keep the surface clear. Replacing the glass is a real repair we handle on many models.

Why did all my burners stop at once?

That usually points upstream — a tripped breaker, a loose terminal block connection, or a failed main control board. Electric cooktops often run on two legs of power; losing one can kill half the unit. We test the supply before touching parts.

Do you fix downdraft cooktops?

Yes. Downdraft units add a blower motor, damper, and vent path to the usual burner and control problems. Weak suction often means a clogged filter or a tired motor. We check the vent run too, since blockages get blamed on the cooktop.

How long does a typical repair take?

Many jobs finish in one visit when the failed part is a common igniter, switch, or element. Control boards and glass surfaces for less common models may need ordering. We tell you which situation you're in before we leave the first time.

Should I repair or replace an older cooktop?

Depends on the part. A single element or igniter on a solid unit is worth fixing. If the frame is rusted through, multiple boards have failed, or parts are gone from the supply chain, we'll say so plainly instead of stacking repairs.
