Safe things to check first
Worth a look before you call — sometimes it saves you the visit.

- 2Look inside the door for a scorched or flaking mica cover on the right-hand wall.
- 3Check that the turntable ring and glass plate sit flat on the drive coupler.
- 4Confirm the door latches fully and that no food buildup is holding it a hair open.

Is a microwave even worth repairing?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Built-in and over-the-range units are usually worth fixing, since replacing one means cabinet work. Small countertop models often aren't. We look at the failed part and the condition of the unit, then say honestly which way we'd go.
Why can't I just open it myself?
The capacitor inside can hold a dangerous charge long after the cord is pulled. Work on the high-voltage side belongs to someone with the right tools and a proper discharge routine. Cleaning and turntable parts are fine to handle yourself.
My microwave sparks. Should I keep using it?
Stop using it. Arcing usually means the waveguide cover burned through or the cavity coating is chipped. Running it that way spreads the damage and can reach the magnetron. Unplug it and call us.
Do you handle over-the-range units?
We do. Those pair a microwave with a vent hood, so we also deal with fan motors, damper flaps, grease filters and cooktop lamps. Getting one off the wall takes support, and that's part of a normal service visit.
Can you fix the built-in in my wall cabinet?
Usually. Built-ins and microwave-drawer models need a careful pull-out from the trim kit. Split-level kitchens around here often have tight cabinet openings, so we plan the extraction before anything moves and protect the surrounding surfaces.
How long does a repair take?
Many visits finish the same trip when the failed part is a common one, like a door switch, a fuse, or a turntable motor. Control boards and magnetrons sometimes need ordering. We tell you which situation you're in before we leave.
